A typical Cruise Week on St. Thomas

In keeping with my "history lesson" in a different post I was thinking about what a typical week growing on up on St. Thomas in the 80's would bring what ships in.

Here are some blasts from the past, It was not uncommon in a week to see:

Carla "C", Daphne, Caribe I, Cunard Countess, Cunard Princess, Oceanic (with Premier), Atlantic, Homeric, Island Princess, Sun Princess, Royal Princess, Soverign of the Seas, Song of America, Nordic Prince, Song of Norway, Fairwind, Fairsea, Fairsky, Oceanos, Seabreeze I, Festivale, Carnivale, Holiday, Tropicale, Neiuw Amsterdam, Noodam, Sea Goddess I and II, Amerikanis, The Victoria,

and if it was Wednesday.... that always meant Norway

Occassional visitors included: Astor, Mermoz, QE2, Sagafjord, Vistafjord, Azur

WICO used to put 4 or 5 ships in at time , pre expansion. During busy weeks like X-mas there maybe as many as 11 or 12 ships in on one day with some at the dock, 1 or 2 at the inner harbor anchorage and 1 or 2 at the outer harbor anchorage.

That had to be awesomw seeing all those ships, not knowing how many would miss them when the mass market ships came in Did you ever sail the Norway or get to board her??
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Sue- it was kinda cool looking back now that I think of it. One of hobbies is taking pictures of cruise ships. I have some great pictures from my last Cruise of the Caribbean Princess and other ships in port that I can post here if I figure out how.

Well, I have pictures of alot of these ships that I blew up into 8 X 10's and hung on my wall growing up. They are still in my room at my parents house.

Sadly no, I was never on board on board Norway, but I have been on board United States laid up in Philadelphia, but thats' for another posting

Awesome I don't know if you can tell but I just love history, and I look for anything on old ships, buildings, 1800's anything We were planning on sailing the Norway before the explosion, I was so sad
