We leave from, and return to, Miami. Now I'm so totally confused that I think my best bet is just to wait and see what happens!

Sweet Angel,

Sorry you are confused.

Try to think of it this way.

If the ship is coming from a foreign port and going to a US port or US territory port you must go through immigration.

San Juan and the US Virgin islands are US Territory.

You will only have immigration in Miami.

Miami to San Juan - US to US territory - Immigration - NO
San Juan to St. Thomas - US territory to US Territory - Immigration, NO
St. Thomas to Nassau - US territory to a foreign port - Immigration , NO
Nassau to Miami - Foreign port to US. Immigration ,Yes.

Ah, but you missed a port -- St. Maarten FOLLOWS St. Thomas. So I guess there will be immigration. Ah, at this point, who cares? If I have to get up early, so be it. I'll just go back to sleep after or take a nap!

If that's true, you will only have immigration when you return to Miami.

What if you are British? Do you have it at all ports?

Sorry I missed the port. It doesn't change anything. St. Martin is NOT US territory. No immigration.

Floglegs,
It is the same for you. We are talking about US Immigration The only difference is you might be asked to report to a different area on the ship.

I would double check on doing immigration if you are coming from a US port, such as Miami and San Juan. The reason that you have to do immigration is because you have come from a foreign port and need to officially re enter the US.

We went through customs this year. The process was quick and painless...very orderly. Everything was very smooth.

We went through immigration at St Thomas after having stopped at the Bahamas..at the ungodly hour of 7 am and everyone had to be cleared before you could get off the ship. The lined moved well once it got going.

We cruised Miami to Bahamas to St Thomas (immigration) to St Martin to Miami (immigration)
US-Foreign-US-Foreign-US..so after each Foreign port visited, if the next port was US or US territory we had to go through immigration there.
