Having been to St. Thomas many times and each time it seems more crowded, my opinion has altered over the years. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either! Once you get outside of the shopping areas it is a very nice island, but the shopping seems to be the major attraction and town is wall to wall people.

I totally agree with Char. Its just too crowded anymore. Used to be fun goingthere, now its moe like Christmas eve shopping. Rush rush, push, rush. Ouch someone stepped on my toe.

Loved it. Kept the shopping to a big min at the end, went to the beach, loved it.

Only complaint is the Taxi Cab set up, what a rip off, and how dangerous they are. Not talking about driving either.. Lots of them are benches welded to the back of a pickup truck, one word comes to mind... Redneck

And Paradise Point, only got to spend a few minutes up there, next time we will stay longer. We did not realize there was a bar and all, we thought it was just an expensive skyride to a nice look out... Live and learn I guess!!

My Signature Next cruise March 28th, 2008 celebrating 30th birthday!!!

I have enjoyed our trips to St Thomas. The shopping is rather crowded, but that didn't stop me. We did tour the island as well and it is really quite beautiful.

St. Thomas always remains a Total JOY for us!

There's everything there we LOVE to do! Some Boat ... Some Beach ... and we're happy!

Our very favorite is the sailing catamaran to St. John!

I would like to know what you mean when you say the taxi set up is a rip off?
And i think you should have done some research on Paridise Point before you go, so you can get your money's worth.

I think he is saying that a lot of the taxis do not meet New York standards (air conditioning, bullet proof glass, things like that)

Personally I loved St. Thomas even if the shopping is getting less "real special bargains" and " unique items" and more "typical tourist stop". Sigh.
