St Thomas

We loved St Thomas. We had no real plans there but my FIL wanted to hire a taxi and see the area. It was wonderful. We decided on a price and we were off. Best $10 pp we have ever spend!!

He took us around and made various stops. He was very informative and knew his history. We also had a stop at Sapphire Beach. I love that area. It is so pretty there.

After our tour our cabbie would have stopped in town but we had to take the kids back to the ship. We took another taxi into town. We had a drink at Hard Rock and then did a little looking and came back to the ship.

We did take the cablecar up but my daughter hated it and we only spent a few minutes there. We had actually seen everything after the tour.

We did a great tour with a taxi as well. We had the taxi for several hours. $20 pp plus tip. We went all over including Blackbeards Castle, Bluebeards Castle (one we liked, the other we couldn't see without paying more), several view points and Mountain top (loved that). Well worth it. We asked to be dropped off at the buckets to the sky which I also enjoyed.

St Thomas is a beautiful port... And you can find some decent snorkeling when you go there, too!

This thread, on the Scuba and Snorkeling forum makes some mentions of good snorkel spots there:

I love St Thomas for the beaches, shopping, and jewelry. I have bought several pieces there that have been appraised for a lot more than I paid.

My hubby liked St Thomas better than the cruise, (he's not much for traveling). He did say he would like to spend a week there sometime, hopefully we will be able to do that in the next couple of years.
