St. Thomas water ferry

does anyone know how far the water taxi is from the cruise ship dock to take to St. John, if its within walking distance or taxi needed to get there. Directions to get there if it is within walking distance.

The ferry to St. John is not within walking distance from Havensight.. You can either catch it downtown Charlotte Amalie or at Red Hook. A taxi ride would be required for either option. I recommend going over to Red Hook because the Ferry from downtown is almost an hour longer than from Red Hook.

ok, but wouldnt getting a taxi to Red Hook then on the ferry be just as much time? How far is it to down town Charlotte Amalie? i will have a group of 16 with me and i am trying to find out which is the best way to do this. When we were down there a few years ago it just seemed like more time and money going to Red Hook, than just to use it out of Charlotte Amalie. But ive only went to Red Hook before, so thanks for your input.

Hi, I was on the Caribbean Princess in April and we decided to take a taxi and then the ferry then another taxi to the great beach on St John--- well it cost pretty much the same as taking the all day trip on a catarman where they feed you take care of snorkle gear, ect.. next time on the Emerald we are for sure taking the tour from the ship. Some of our group did it and they had way more fun and were actually relaxed after their trip.

Taxi to Red Hook is 10 -15 minutes max. Saves 45 minutes. Dollars is different. But, I figure my time is relatively valuable.
