Views of St. Thomas -- spectacular!!

We just returned from 9 glorious days on the Crown Princess and our 2nd port of call was St. Thomas. Having never been there, we elected to take the Views of St. Thomas tour. We enjoyed it very much! We boarded an open air taxi that held 17 in our group. We started out first for Mountain Top and our driver stopped twice along the way to point out various points of interest and pretty views. There were small, local vendors selling souvenirs at these locations and they had excellent prices. If you see something you like, get it there because the prices at the top were higher. Once we got to Mountain Top we entered a building with shops and a bar. Off the back of the building is a large deck with spectacular views of the surrounding islands and Megan's bay. Unfortunately it was a little hazy the day we were there but the visibility was still 8 miles or so. We had about 45 minutes there to sight see, shop, drink (try the banana daquairi) there. Then it was back down the mountain and over to the sky ride to Paradise Point. Again, at the top were shops, restaurants, a bar and decks to take in the views. From here we could see the harbor and our ship. Try the Bailey's Bushwhacker, I'm craving one now. It was very good!! After about another 45 minutes we all met back at the taxi and the driver was willing to let anyone off who wanted, in the main shopping area. We didn't feel like we would have enough time and could possibly be cutting it short getting back to the ship so we skipped it. At the pier (Crown Point) there are new shops and more coming as they are constructing the new buildings there. In the morning when we arrived not many were open but by afternoon they were all open and there were good selections and prices there. Our stop in St. Thomas was too short and I would like to return there sometime when there is more time. We were only there from 7-3 and with a tour it didn't give us much time to do anything else.

Nice picture! I was told this tree is equal to our Jacaranda tree here. Ours is purple though!

Janet, thanks for the great report and photos! Now, you're making me want a yummy Banana Daquairi and a Bushwhacker!

Also appreciated your update on Crown Point!

Now that you've toured the island, what would you like to do the next time you're in St.Thomas?
    LuLu ...
