    Talking Caribbean Princess docking question

Does anyone know what the port side of the Caribbean Princess overlooks now that they dock at the Crown?

We were on the starboard side, which is the dockside, so I couldn't tell you exactly what the view is since I only saw it while eating breakfast, but I do know that you'll have a nice view of the water and the hills. But, it's a nice port with lots to do, so you unless you've been there alot, you shouldn't be spending a great deal of time in your cabin.

Well, that's true, we really won't be in the cabin that much. Have been to St. Thomas several times but we are most always out and about. Just wanted to know what our view would be that we would wake up to!

If I recall right, you can see some small islands and some of the bay. Boats, etc. It was pretty also.

When we were on the Crown Princess at Crown Bay in St Thomas, the Port (left)Side was dockside and the Starboard (right)Side was facing the water and other islands and sailboats. It depends on which side of the pier the ship docks.
I took this picture of the Crown Princess docked in Crown Bay when we were there.

Crown Bay is a new port and is very nice. Some of the shops are now open. When we were there in November 2006, none of the shops were open.

Thanks! We're looking forward to seeing the new dock, etc! Have any idea how much farther it is to Red Hook from the Crown Bay?

It really depends on if the Ship backs in or go's in bow first, it only docks on the south side caurse the water on the North side is a little shallow. To red hook will be about a 35 to 40 mins drive $11.00 per person.

Are you planning a cruise to St.Thomas V.I.

We were on the CB in Feb and we backed in. So, we got off on the port side and the Starboard side had a nice view of East Gregorie Channel and Water Island.

We took a ride over to Sapphire Beach and it cost us $11 a person each way $88 total in cab fare roundtrip! I would have perferred to rent a car, but since time was limited, we decided not too.

Also FYI, Crown Bay Dock is not new it was opened in the late '80's but it only recently (past 10 years) has been used and developed as a cruise port. I remember as a kid going down to Crown Bay to see the Navy ships that were docked there on occassion. Every once in while they would give tours, pre 9/11
