What did you think of this Excursion?
    (Carnival version listed)

Scenic St. Thomas Island & Shopping 2.00 hours $35.00*
Enjoy hours of island sightseeing and an optional drop off in the main shopping district. On this combination excursion you will:
    • Take an open-air safari bus or air conditioned van to the hills.
    • Stop for photo opportunities at the famous Mountain Top, the beautiful Magen’s Bay overlook and the Charlotte Amalie lookout.
    • Listen as your guide informs you about the island’s history and points out the local flora and fauna.
    • Descend into the downtown area where you will have the option to be dropped off for shopping.
    • Stay in the downtown area – if you like -- for two hours of shopping.
    • Meet at a designated location where the bus will pick you up and transport you back to the ship.
Note: Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

We managed to find a company called Island Marketing online. We got a great island tour, some beach time AND a visit to Coral World all for $33!!!!! Value or what! The guide was superb, the van was fun, and coral world would have been worth it on its own......I wont be booking tours on the ship in future just for the sake of spending more. you can find it on Utimate Island Tour with Coral World in st Thomas

I agree with Boyconny. The ship tours, which while nice, are usually rather expensive. On almost every island I have been too when on a cruise we usually arrange for our own tour. The ship will try and scare you and say if your not back in time they won't wait for you. True, but if you do the tour early, nothing to worry about. Plus there are so many reputable tour operators on thier own, who know if they screw up word gets around on boards like this and they are done.

You'll find on almost every island ( Martinique excluded) that most people are nice,. and friendly and you can usually make arrangements with a taxi driver to drop you off at a beach and then pick up at a prearranged time later. The same trip on a ship tor may cost you double the amount and only give you a short period to "get your feet wet"

See that's what makes this board so neat! We would not be allowed to have this discussion on TOB (That Other Board). We know that the next time we go to St. Thomas we will check Spiderman Tours because we are biased. What about other islands? Do you folks who are in the know down there have contacts with tour operations on other islands?

Boyconny next time we come down we will designate you Packer Fan For The Day! MIght even present you with an official Packer cap!
