    Crown Bay

Has anyone gotten off at Crown Bay in St. Thomas lately. Just wondering how the situation was there. Easy to get a taxi to downtown?

We were at Crown Bay just a couple of weeks ago while on the Volendam -- the Crown Princess was there. Lots and lots of safari buses which are St Thomas' version of cabs. The price was $4 per person each way.

There is nothing going on at Crown Bay. The buildings are up -- but nothing inside -- they have the area roped off but we were able to look inside the buildings -- nothing in them -- don't even have partitions inside the buildings. Watched 2 workers paint a column -- they weren't rushing the job.

Many merchants in town and Havensight say they don't want to go out there as Crown Bay will only be used for 6 months of the year. During the summer months there are few ships in St Thomas and most will go to Havensight. They feel that they won't make any money during the summer months at Crown Bay and as a result no one has signed any contracts to open a store there yet.

The day we are at St. Thomas, there is only one other RCCL ship there. However, we are scheduled to dock at Crown Bay. I was hoping that with only two ships that day, we could dock at Havensight.

On our first segment, there were 5 ships scheduled for St Thomas. Crown Princess and our ship, Volendam were docked at Crown Bay.

On our 2nd segment, only 3 ships were scheduled for St Thomas -- Zenith and our ship got to be at Havensight. Crown Princess was at Crown Bay.

This is not true, the Caribbean Princes and the Crown Princess I think will be there in the Summer instead of at Havensight.

From what I heard Princess is trying to back out of the deal to be at Crown Bay because of the shops not opening.

I hope what you heard is true. It would be wonderful if we could dock at Havensight in December since there are only two ships there that day anyway.

Don't count on it happening too soon -- Princess moving back to Havensight.

We were just at Crown Bay on Jan 16th. Still nothing in the buildings but plenty of taxis. The trip to town was much quicker with less congestion from Crown Bay vs Havensight. I did miss looking around at Havensight but usually do my buying in town anyway.
