St. Thomas / St. John

Hi, I was wondering if I could get some recommendations for shore excursions at these ports.
Thank you.

travelmama06, lots to do on both islands. If you check out the threads on cruise destinations under the Caribbean, they are both listed. I hope you have a great time on your cruise.

travelmama - welcome to CLF!

Yes, what hanna says is correct. Here are some suggestions to help you find both information and places to ask questions about specific ports here on the CLF site:

Our CLF Cruise Gallery has an Eastern Caribbean section, including photos our members have taken of the ports you are asking about.

In Cruise Resources, you'll find links to other sites on the web that can be helpful in planning your port visits, particularly those links under the categories DESTINATIONS and EXCURSIONS.

I see you've already posted this question on the Caribbean forum, under Cruise Destinationsand Excursions. That's perfect! You might also try using the Search this Forum tool on that forum. You'll find it near the top right. Just do a search on St Thomas and another on St John. You'll find threads about these areas - with questions from folks who are going there, and answers and reports from those who have been.

The search I did on St Thomas returned 48 threads about St Thomas... including threads on the famous sky ride, snorkeling and sailing excursions, the party boat, helmet diving, and shopping, among other topics.

We have done the party boat tour and Megans Bay Beach tour, both good. Last Dec we did Emerald Beach tour, beautiful beach and not as populated as Megans and no vendors as it is connected with a hotel. Great beach time. I always leave time for jewelry shopping on St Thomas. My favorite place to shop for

We have done the Buck Island excursion 2 times. It is a great snorkeling experience. We have been to Megan's Bay on our own, and it is a beautiful beach. I have been over to St. John, and it is gorgeous!

Have fun deciding!

Did you or can you just walk around in St Johns or did you rent a car? We are going soon and I want to do a day trip to St Johns. Any suggestions

In February we took a catamaran sail to St. John, where we had about an hour to snorkel or lie on the beach. They served fruit juices on the way to St. John - after snorkeling they served alcholic beverages, including champagne and some food (bread, cheeses, fruit). The excursion, on the Sun Princess, was called "Champagne Catamaran Sailaway to St. John" - I would highly recommend it.

If you want to explore on St. John, there are either taxi's or you can rent a car. The island is too big to walk around to the beautiful beaches. You could take the ferry from St. Thomas and hang out in Cruz Bay, but there isn't that much there. Depends on how much time you want to spend. Here's a good link to the ferry schedule, taxi, rental info and a good map of the island. Hope this helps.

Thank you.
Travelmama- I did the BOB excursion when I was there in November. It was awesome. You can check it out at www.bobusvi.com

Magens Bay was fun. I did that in March with about 400 parrotheads. Of course part of the fun was that we had our own entertainment and food and all we could drink. I would still recommend it if you're just into a day at the beach.

Have fun and enjoy your cruise~Rose
