We were in St. Thomas last November and did the Skyride... you get a great view of the port and your ship. It was within walking distance of the ship and you can just buy tickets on your own.. I think it was around $10.

What beach do you think would be a good day trip?

Barb, all the beaches are quite nice. It just depends on what "you" want out of it. Snorkel? Just laying about? Everyone is different. You know they have a "clothes optional" beach on St Thomas? It's called Orient Beach. So if you go there, be forewarned!!!

I think you have St. Thomas and St. Maarten mixed up.

Orient is "clothes optional" but is on St. Maarten.

Magens Bay on St. Thomas is one of the most photographed beaches in the World. While it is beautiful, it is also crowded, especially if there is more than one cruise ship docked at the island.

Trunk Bay on St. John has an underground snorkel path, and while not pristine, is still a great place to see. Since 4/5 of St. John is a national park, almost all the beaches are clean, quiet and just wonderful. The water in that part of the world is gorgeous!
