Thread: St.Maarten/St.Marin - ORIENT BEACH is Great!

We took a taxi from the cruise ship pier in St.Maarten (Dutch side) to St.Martin (French side) where Orient Beach is located. Private taxis are $18 for two people each way. The vans are $5 pp each way.

As always, we ask to be dropped off at Pedro's, our favorite spot -- directly on the beach -- LIVE music -- $2 beer for the thirsty -- GREAT ribs for the hungry! We rented two beach chairs and an umbrella for $15 w/2 free beers and a restroom pass. A totally FUN place to be!

Just steps away from Pedro's are The Pirate and Bay Watch. Both also have good food and chair/umbrella rentals.

Orient Beach has soft white sand and beautiful blue water! Post card pretty!

Yes, Orient is a clothes optional beach. When standing in front of Pedro's facing the water, to the right more total nudity ... to the left less.

We opted to keep our bathing suits ON. Didn't want to scare anyone! Many who didn't, should have!

Once, we saw this man who had painted himself to look like an elephant ... which was interesting. Hope it wasn't a REAL tatoo!

Basically, we don't care if people opt to be without their bathing suits as long as they don't care if we opt to keep ours on ....

What a FUN - HAPPY - BEAUTIFUL place to be! Hated leaving and are already looking forward to our next wonderful day at Orient Beach!

I am sorry when they say clothing optional .. some forlk unfortuneately take that to mean that they can disrobe... in fact what it means is that if you are over 35 please wear clothes.. Unless ur from Europe then all bets off

We have timeshare in St. Maarten and spend a lot of time at Orient Beach! We prefer the Bikini Beach area, but have been up & down the entire beach many times. LOVE it!!!! We've never had any issues with the nudity but I'm sure some people would.

One of my ex's went to Orient Beach. He most certainly would agree the notion that those who shouldn't go nude did. He took pictures of some of the surfers there but he was far enough away that the sensitive areas were blurred. Tried doing the nude thing once many moons ago. Never again! Places that never saw the sun were burned!

OMYGAWD Anita----I remember a gentleman with a rather rotund belly in the smallest of tangerine colored thongs anyone would EVER want to see!!!!
