We've done 5 things on the list, however the last few times we just shop and go to the casinos. It's Rita's favorite Island to shop and mine as well, since I can drink a $1.50 beer while I follow her!![]()
We just did some whole island tour, and we stopped in some kind of market where I bought some jewelry that was cute, but not nice enough that I would wear it all the time, stones too small I decided later.. nothing really high quality where they took us to shop, but it was fun.
We only drove by Orient Beach, they didnt take us in
Mine was a excursion thru Princess. Iv only been there once.

Traffic on this island was TERRIBLE. I was glad we used a ship's excursion here, because our bus was late picking us up to get us back to the ship. Cars were at a near standstill on the main road to and from the ship. I know people who have taken cabs to beaches on the other side of the island (the French side), but I don't think that would have been a good day to do that when I was there. I think there were 3 ships that day.
Before you go, see how many and which other ships will be in port at Vessel Schedule Cruise

On hiatus from cruising, but still very interested!!!
Thanks for the info. this will help us alot when deciding what to do. Was thinking of doing own tour but now will re-think it.
the website helps too. We're the only ship in port on day we're there (at least for now)so shouldn't be too bad.
If memory is right, the last time, we went to a Divi resort (ships tour) for a beach day w/ lunch buffet. It was really nice & enjoyed it but was too short a stay on beach.
Where on LI did you org. come from?
Carnival Victory April 22,2012. so excited to be cruising again.
We have been there several times, so we've gotten down to a routine based on what we like to do.
First, we always rent a car. Depending on the time of year, it can run from $45 to $75 a day. We once rented a jeep and did some off-roading over the mountains - it was great.
We then drive over to Marigot to do some shopping at the flea market, then head over to Orient Beach, where we have lunch and then go down to the nude beach to enjoy the beautiful water.
We'll then drive the other way around the island - the road less traveled so there's never any traffic - and arrive back in plenty of time to walk around the outdoor market not too far from the pier.
Love the island and would never dream of doing cruise line excursion - definitely one place it's not really necessary.

I love this port and still do not tire of it. Going back in April and not sure what we will do in addtion to shopping. We have done many things, The America's Cup was one of them. I was the Rear Winch Wench. Crazy job but somebody's got to do it.
We have shopped till we dropped every time we have been thre. We have done both side of the island, we have had lich near the port and we have been to Orient and Marigot too.
We really enjoyed Maho. For those who might like an idea of Maho, here you go! It's so much more fun when the really huge planes fly in though.
