Sharon .... St.Maarten/St.Martin is our FAVORITE island! Just thinking of being there makes us so happy!

Definitely one of our favorite islands. We rent a car and drive around. Really enjoy going shopping at the flea market in Marigot, then driving over and enjoying a nice lunch at the Bikini Beach Bar & Grill, then going skinny dipping at the beautiful beach at Orient Beach.

It's a clean, safe, and beautiful island with wonderful people.

Pete .... I share your LOVE for Orient Beach ... but, think, we need to tell others they don't need to "shinny dip" to go there.

My avatar picture was taken at Orient Beach. Note that I'm in a full bathing suit with a cover up and that's what I wear there. Thing is ... no one cares even on the "nude" end what anyone wears or does not wear. As long as they don't care what we wear, we don't care what they don't!

We stopped at St. Maarten once and we went to Orient beach over in St. Martin. It was suggested by members here (LuLu maybe?) to check out Orient beach and the best thing I can say is...

In January when we call to St. Maarten again, we are going back to Orient beach!

Okay, I agree - we've warned them.

But then again, as for us it's really not skinny dipping, it's more like chunky dunking!!

Seriously though, it really is an absolutely lovely beach, crystal clear water, lots of activities, good food, and great sand. The only caution is leaving things in your car - make sure you lock them in the trunk as there are people that are constantly looking to steal your stuff. We've not had any problems, but we take the usual precautions.

I do love that they have a bar right on the beach!

Just came back from St Maarten. WE chose the cruise because it went there and we hadn't been there since 2001. We had really liked it then. This time it wasn't as we remembered it but I understand parts were changed after the hurricanes. WE were disappointed this time and don't care if we return or not.

hopefully going there in march for the first time, it sounds wonderfull.

we love this place... Antoines by the sea.. best beach spot ...lounge chairs and umbrella......tropical drinks .... the best burger in the carribean....and a beach server so you don't have to get up.. now that living...

Any recos on some considerations for family activities to do there? My kids are 12 and 15.

The "America's Cup" Sailing Regatta is a fun family thing. My grandchildren (14 & 18) loved it!
