Thread: St.Maarten/St.Martin -- Your Opinion

I really like Orient Beach, the warm temperature, warm water, and cool white sands. I could live there.

We do like visiting it once in awhile when visiting with a Cruiseship.

Granted when on a cruiseship, you are only on one part of the island, the dutch side.

You will have to venture over to the other side to the French side.

Shopping area and the area Beach is the closet items to the cruiseport.

Its my favorite island to visit. Get to visit 2 countires in one stop! Beautiful weather. Very laid back. Went swimming at Orient Beach. Its even better than imagined! I can't wait to go back!

It calls itself the "Friendly Isles" but when we visited we thought it was the most unfriendly place. We felt they wanted our money but not our presence. Unfortunately the two things go together. No pleases, no smiles, no thank yous. Couldn't get back to the ship fast enough.

I voted REALLY Like Going There.. but if truth be known the "LIKE" is truly LOVE

So...when we go there what to we do? we could be being observed by CLF too!

Our first visit to Sint Maarten in 2006 was very, very crowded and we saw little. When we were there 3 weeks ago on the Noordam there was only other ship and we now love the island. We took a tour that circled the island, with lots of time at Orient Beach to get rid of some tan lines and at Maho Beach to see the planes. We have never been there, but it is one of our stops on our upcoming cruise. I just viewed a travel blog last night that had some recent photos of St. Maarten and it looks stunning....so we are looking forward to it!
