    Dutch side / French side

    I'd love to see something telling ab out the differences between the Dutch and French sides of this island.

    For instance - IN GENERAL, if I spent an entire day on the Dutch side, how different would my experience be than a day spent on the French side? What impressions would I come away with?

    Next - What are the strengths of each side? Do I want one over the other if I am interested in 'beaching it' or shopping for artwork, or eating a fabulous meal, seeing beautiful scenery, or meeting friendly people, or . . .?

    They have nude beaches on the French side. I guess the Dutch are
    more conservative.

    Somehow, that doesn't surprise me.

    Did you find the people friendlier on one side than the other?

    I ask, because, when we went to Amsterdam, we found the people welcoming and friendly, but when we were in Paris, we found them . . . well . . .not.

    The French side of St. Maarten in no way resembles Paris. The people of St. Maarten are very friendly no matter which side of the island you are on. St. Maarten is our favorite island of all those that we have visited.

    Well, I am glad to hear THAT.
    Paris is one of the few places I have ever been that I have no desire visit again.

    We love going to Orient Beach (French Side)!

    Other than that, we'd rather stay on the Dutch Side .... more to do!
