Talking St.Maarten: GOLDEN EAGLE Catamaran Sail - Report

"Golden Eagle Out-Island Sail" $89 pp - 4 Hours (Ours was from 1:15 - 5:15)

FUN - FUN - FUN

It's a HUGE sailing catamaran -- not crowded in the least! We had happy island music, a fantastic crew, and beautiful scenery for our sail!

Frosty beverages flowed freely from the Open Bar for the entire time! Even, at the beach stop there was icy cold beer!

Our beach stop was Tintemarre Island on the French side. The water was ABSOLUTELY clear with very gentle waves -- almost no wave action. The sand was as soft and white as sugar. Like most, se spent the majority of our time there IN the water.

Sandwiches were ready and waiting when we returned to the catamaran. The music and fun continued ....

We had a GREAT time!

Please feel free to reply with any comments or questions.

Thank you both for your kind comments!

theborland5 .... We were at the beach stop for a little over an hour. The rest of the time was sailing. The "Fun Factor" made this one special.

I've never been to this Island and my DH is taking an excursiion with the guys on St Maarten, would you suggest renting scooters to see the island w/ my sisters or taking a snorkling or Catamaran out. Is the snorkling not to be missed? We'll do it on St Thomas (maybe not) I know we're planning a side visit to St. Johns when we're in port at St Thomas to snorkle. Which island is best to site see? I've never been to either.

jp20 .... You have a good plan!

Do your snorkeling in St.Thomas/St.John ... and use St.Maarten/St.Martin for whatever else you want to do.

Feel sure most will agree that the snorkeling is MUCH better in St.John!!!

Thanks for the review LuLu!! We've wanted to take this excursion before and always had other things planned and didn't get to it, but I think we're going to take it this fall. Princess seems to have cancelled all the afternoon catamaran trips and only have the morning trips which disappoints me!! We've always loved to take the catamarans in the afternoon but many times the ship has had to be held as we were late returning. I'm assuming that is why they've seemed to have cancelled all the afternoon trips. Wish they would do the afternoons again!! Guess we'll just have to get up early to take it!!!

Based on Lulu's report, it sounds like this might be something it would be well worth getting up early to do.

If you get to do it, you will take some pics, won't you?
