they had a short party on the ship's Helipad as we passed them, serving a specially concocted Pitons drink for the occasion.

It was quite an event, enjoyed by all the passengers.
    Cool.

Thanks for the great pics and info. We'll be in St. Lucia next April and have booked a tour with Cosol of the island. It looks like an awesome place - one that you need more than a day to explore!!!

Our ship is also taking a scenic cruising around Soufriere and the Pitons. Don't know if we'll be served a cool drink, though, but I know it will be beautiful!

Great info, thanks for sharing. Was going to check out your pics of the Pitons from your cat tour but I got an error message and it wouldn't open. Janurary will be my second stop in St Lucia. Didn't see the Pitons the first stop and hope to do the cat tour to see them this time. I think the harbor where we dock is one of the prettiest ports in the islands!

It appears that none of the links in port#2 are working.

I believe this is because that post pre-dates the site upgrade, and the URLs changed.
Give me about a half an hour ... I am going to work on repairing all those links.

I am back from the cruise. We did do the catamaran tour to the Pitons. It was wonderful, we all really enjoyed it and I would recommend it to anyone.

It has been a few years since we were in St Lucia and are looking forward to getting back there in a couple of months.

Loved our tour to the Pitons -- the first time w went there was a ship's tour -- 8 of us on a small boat -- lasted 8 hours -- Cunard had to hold the ship for us!! We got back nearly an hour late.

Sheila, we were at the Botanic Gardens, your first picture here in November when the Crown Princess called at St Lucia. I remember the huts, and the demonstration of dancing the cocoa beans. We had lunch there too.
This is where we did the "Best Of St Lucia By Land and Sea" tour. We did the sea portion by catamaran first, then returned to the Cartries pier by land.
As you stated, it's a very lovely island. When we were there, they were gearing up for their upcoming elections, which was held on December 10th, 2006. The opposition party won. Their unemployment rate is 27%, which is high. Land there is cheap by our standards, but expensive for them. A two bedroom house near the hotels on the north, I believe the tour guide told us, is US$65,000, whilst the same size house away from that area is US$55,000.
I definitely would like to go back for a week there.
