i have snorkeled in St. John in 2002 at Trunk Bay. Went there on my own with 2 other couples. So there wasn't that many people there. The beach its self is one of the best i have seen. However the snorkeling just wasnt what i had read about or heard. not that many of fish, not really any coral. i did find myself also swimming to get my wife's mask and before it went all the way to the bottom my ears were popping and almost ran out of air going back up. the water is so clear and deep you just dont realize it. i have been doing research on St. John because im going back there in January and i have found out that Leinster bay going out to Waterlemon Cay is actually the best place to snorkel. supposively you will see tons of more fish and possibly a turtle or two. It is on the North side of St. John. Check into it.

We have snorkeled at Trunk Bay and at Cinnamon. Cinnamon wins hands-down! We were in schools of THOUSANDS of some kind of little fish that made me feel like I was in a Disney movie! We even saw a cuttlefish out by the island. We are going there a week from tomorrow! I am sure we will have another great day at Cinnamon!

I like Loblolly Bay, Anegada, BVI.

West Bay, Roatan is another favorite.

We just got back from the Big Island of Hawaii, and I think Cook's Bay and the Place of Refuge are awesome snorkeling places. Clear water, lots of great colorful (and healthy) coral, all sorts of bright fish...easy access...and NOT TOO CROWDED. Perfect!!

Bora Bora is also pretty nice...the water is as clear as a swimming pool and really warm. The protected lagoon is great because there are no waves or currents. And the variety of blue and green colors in the water is pretty amazing!

Well, I'm only answering this almost a year later...but, I have an Ocean Master dry snorkel and I see no cons to it!! It's absolutely wonderful!!!!! My husband is a very experienced swimmer and snorkeler and he decided to get an Ocean Master dry snorkel after I got mine...he loves it!
