Really don't think ANY Mass Market Cruise Lines have been for several years nor are going now to St.Croix ... so, probably, of little interest to cruisers ....

If so, just let me know ... and I'll post (please, no frubals) because we use to have cruise stops there ... and MORE IMPORTANTLY ... we still go on land trips. ( Nice to have a couple friends who have parents with places there ....)
    LuLu ...

    Lulu -
You are rigiht that none of the Mass market lines are currently calling at St. Croix.
As far as I can tell, only Seabourn now stops there - with the Seabourn Legend. It will stop there about a dozen times this year.

If you have the time and inclination, it wouild be nice to have something here, in case we get members sailing on the Legend.

We spent a week in St. Croix twice and really enjoyed ourselves. Fredriksted, where the ships usually dock, is a small, quaint little French-like fishing village. Souvie shops, beach, restaurants (some REALLY excellent ones) and not too much else. Christiansted, which is about a 30-45 minute drive, traffic being the major issue, is a larger town with lot's of great shops, restaurants and all kinds of things to see & do.

We drove the entire island several times & there is a wonderful rainforest and also a desert side which is very interesting. Lot's of great beaches and great golf courses--which is WHY we go!!!

It would not be my favorite cruise stop due to being so far away from Christiansted, but a visit once would be nice to do an island tour IMHO!

This is my first post on this site........I am a cc but got invited to come back to where I lurked a couple of months ago.............I must reply to St. Croix.............this was my absoulte favorite port.........in 1987......................then a few years later the dock was blown away in a hurricane and I have not heard of a ship visiting since. The fabulous catamaran trip was the clearast water I have snokled in...........plus the underwater coral park was awesome...........I love the bustrip to town and everything about the port stop, my daughter did get cut on coral while off with the ships social crew........and we had the comedian Pat Cooper who made over her the rest of the trip.....she was on crutches but she made the best of it..............so if you can the stop is terrific.........sailinsal

St. Croix is the largest of the US Virgin Islands. The east side is very dry with cactus, and the west side has a rainforest. As mentioned in earlier posts, ships dock at a very long dock on the west side in F'sted. Popular shore excursions include snorkeling at Buck Is (NOT the same one as near ST. Thomas), rainforest hike, Whim Museum, Cruzan Rum Factory, etc. This is the place to go on a ship as the island is not full of other people from other ships. Beaches are within walking distance to the dock. Fabulous place!
