Debbie, it has to be some of the most beautiful scenary in the world. Then to experience it by cruise ship, WOW.
When you walk into Juneau (just a few blocks from where we dock) be sure to look up into the trees. You will see many bald eagles along the way. I felt like a little kid with "Oh look at that" and "WOW, look at that". On our last cruise there, altho I didn't get a photo, as I was coming out on deck a whale dove into the water just feet from the ship and its tail came up and out for all to see. It was amazing.
The animals, birds and fish are so amazing. Don teaches animals in his school and is an avid lover of all the creatures. We lived in Washington State for 12 years and with small children we did a lot of camping and hiking. I remember we were camping at a lake (the entire campground was grass) and there were a pair of nesting bald eagles across the lake. We had a perfect view and watched them throughout our visit. Amazing!! We loved our time in Washington but had to move for work.
Debbie
Debbie, I grew up in WA state and moved when I got married. Can you explain more about Don's classes - what kind of classes does he teach?
The school where Don teaches is a historic school in Trabuco Canyon. The canyon is just down the hill from our home. Our house is just a short block from the edge of the canyon. The canyon is filled with amazing animals and birds. Right now there are a pair of Golden Eagles making the canyon their home. All types of cats live in the hills around the canyon and it's not unusual to see cougar tracks along the creek. The school houses the kids in the canyon and a Field Studies Program. Schools both public and private bring classes down into the canyon to learn everything you'd ever want to know for the state wide 6th grade science test. The children pan for jewels, dig for fossils, learn in the blow-up planetarium, visit with all of the barnyard animals and hike and learn more about the trees, flowers and sometimes snakes. It is an amazing place and Don has been teaching there for four years. He only works for 4 hours a day and loves the teachers, children and parents that enjoy learning in such a great environment. A very special job for him....
