We are taking a cruise from Barcelona to Athens in August. We plan to fly into Barcelona a couple days early. As a Hilton Honors member, I have more than enough points to stay at any of their properties for free. There are 2 Hiltons in Barcelona and I am unsure which we should stay in to be convenient to the stuff we would want to see and do in Barcelona. Of the following, which would you recommend:
1. Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona
Passeig del Taulat 262-264
Barcelona, Spain, 08019
34-93-507 0707
2. Hilton Barcelona Hotel
Avda Diagonal, 589-591
Barcelona, Spain, 08014
34-93-4957777
Also, what are the things one MUST do when in Barcelona for the first time and what are the things which you would skip. Thanks in advance.

Must do's in Barcelona:
A stroll down Las Ramblas from the top to the Ramblas del Mar (on the water)
A visit to the Barri Gothic and the old Gothic church
A late meal of tapas along with other Balcelonians
A trip to La Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's fabulous church
I can't answer about the 2 Hiltons, but I'd book the one closest to the center of Barcelona near Passeig de Gracias. It would be a bonus to be near a underground tram station. We used it this last October and found it to be clean with helpful staff.
Much of it depends on whether you all are fans of the various artists that called Barcelona home...there are museums of Gaudi, Picasso and Miro as well as works of their art about town. Most famous is probably Gaudi's Park.
If I remember correctly both Hiltons were about 20 min.from the Rambla, which is where we wanted to stay and do,and even the market place on the Rambla was worthwhile, the Gaudi bldgs.are all lit at night,we walked to the pier to see the ship from there, this might help.Shows areas and hotel locations.
Click on left side hotel map, barcelona is split up in areas closest to Rambla.
We are facing the same question, which Hilton? What did you think of the Hilton Diagonal Del Mar? Was it a good choice? Should we pick that one also, or stay at the other one in the business district?
