    Hello KettyB,
I visited Barcelona one month ago and I stayed at LLoret Hotel.
It's a 1 star but...I ensure you that this hotel it's very confortable.
Excellent position (ON RAMBLA) and very, very good clean. It's in the center and near Plaça Catalunya (and metro station)
It's ideal for people that would to go round the city.
If I will retourn in this city, I choose this hotel again!

For other information, I remain at your disposal

    Hotel lloret. http://www.hlloret.com

    ciao!

Minnie (Laura) - Thanks for the information. I have been checking around for my daughter and SIL. I think they have chosen the Hotel Majestic, which is also centrally located. They will be spending 2 days there before they board the Grand Princess, cruise Portugal, France and Italy, then sail home to Fort Lauderdale, FL. I have been to Barcelona and it such a beautiful, lively city. Actually, I love all of Spain. Again, thanks. "See" you at the Morning Coffee Stop.

Hi Everyone! We'll be in Barcelona on Oct 5 this year. Staying at a hotel NW of Las Rambles. Booked it maybe 6 months in advance, got a good rate. Let you know how it was. It got good reviews on the DS & Trip Advisor. Think I am going to try taking the Metro to the Hotel. NIce to have a few bucks for the side trips. The buses have luggage carriers similar to the airport. Can't wait!!

the Hotel Continental is nice too.

    HOTEL CONTINENTAL BARCELONA

I stayed at the Continental Las Ramblas. Right on Las Ramblas and centrally located. Got a great rate of 110 Euros for 3 adults in a room. The rate includes all you can eat snacks all day, breakfast, and all you can drink sodas, beer and water. Also free internet access.

    It was great.

Rayna.. there is also a convenient Aeroport bus from the El Prat airport with stops at the University, Placa Espanya and Placa Catalunya for only 3,75 Euros per person. I took the bus from the Airport to Placa Catalunya and walked the 2 blocks to my hotel. Very convenient and cheap.

However, the Metro is also a great way to get around. Very convenient, easy to understand, helpful ticket sellers, clean and not dangerous at all!
