Sovereign being replaced by the Monarch of the Seas...

Royal Caribbean International's Sovereign of the Seas will be reassigned to the company's Pullmantur fleet and the Los Angeles-based Monarch of the Seas will assume Sovereign of the Seas' sailings out of Port Canaveral in October and November 2008.
"We are fortunate that our mix of brands allows us the flexibility and opportunity to expand in key strategic markets and to diversify in existing ones," said Royal Caribbean International president and CEO Adam Goldstein.
"We thank our partners at the ports of Los Angeles, Ensenada, Catalina and San Diego for our outstanding and ongoing relationship. We look forward to providing our Monarch of the Seas guests with exceptional vacations as we visit those locations through next fall."
Sovereign of the Seas' last scheduled sailing for RCI will be on Oct. 31, 2008. Two subsequent cruises, scheduled for Nov. 3 and 7, will be canceled, and guests booked on those cruises will receive a full refund and an onboard credit for rebooking an earlier Sovereign of the Seas sailing during 2008 (excluding holidays).
All rebookings must be made by Dec. 31. All guests currently booked on Sovereign of the Seas on or after Nov, 10, 2008, will be reaccommodated onboard Monarch of the Seas.

They did not metion moving another ship to the 3/4 day cruises out of LA.
They may be giving up on that market.

I'm sure there will be, I might even be on it.

I've grown fond of the Monarch and her crew over the last few years.
I have 8 cruises on her now with number 9 booked for 1-04-08.

Red face It seems Carnival has the skinny

    Good Afternoon Travel Partners!
I want to give you a heads up, Royal Caribbean has announced their decision to reposition the Los Angeles based ship, The Monarch of the Seas, to Port Canaveral today. They will no longer offer any 3 or 4 day cruises from Los Angeles after the October 13, 2008 sailing.
If you have groups for a 3 or 4 day schedule, contact Carnival Group Department TODAY before our group rates adjust for 2008. Our Group Department is ready to service your groups.
    Have a wonderful weekend!

Ok Reggie, why is anyone with groups on Royal Caribbean being asked to contact Carnival? A little mixup here, I suppose?

No mixup Ken. Anyone who has a booking on the Monarch of the Seas after 10-13-2008, will no longer have a ship to sail on since the Monarch is going back to Florida. I'm sure there are both individual and groups booked on her now that will need to make other arrangements. Carnival is just trying to get some of that business from the canceled RCCL Monarch bookings.

Exactly Reggie....Carnival is going to jump all over this opportunity!

Sheila, I am sorry...I knew you would be upset!! Is there anyway, you can sail on her for her last sailing?? I know how you feel, the Sovereign of the Seas was my first RCI ship...
