Sovereign of the Seas - 02/26/07

    Hi there, fellow cruisers!

I just reserved a cabin on this cruise to Nassau and CocoCay aboard the beautiful sovereign of the Seas...
Gosh, I hope I'm gonna like it!

    Anybody else going?

May I ask...When was your sailing? We have just booked for a last minute cruise on this ship and I am anxious to find someone that has already experienced a sailing with them. We are due to sail on 12/21/07. How was the food, etc. What cabin class did you stay in and any other info would be so helpful/ Thanks in advance

    Hi!
    We always enjoy the Sovereign.

The last time we sailed on her was nearly three months ago, in early September, which was our 16th time on the Sovereign of the Seas.

The food is usually as good as you will get in a fairly nice restauraunt... but not five star. Perfectly good. We prefer eating in the dining room to the buffet.

As far as 'class' of cabin, we have bookde K,H,I, G,and F1, but prefer an ocean view cabin on Deck 8, port side, forward. We sailed once in an inside (K) on deck 6, once on one of the lower decks (3) and several times on deck 7, usually starboard, but once port.

You'll find the cabins on this ship among the smallest in Royal Caribbean's fleet. This is because these smaller cabins were standard in the late 1980's when this ship was built. This has never been a problem for us, as we spend a lot of time on the pool deck (deck 11), and outside on the wrap-around Promenade Deck (deck 7) and always thoroughly enjoy ourselves.

The crew is wonderful, and we have rarely had anything less than outstanding service, although it has happened. The crew of the Sovereign of the Seas has won RCL's 'best in fleet' award more than once.

Our first ever cruising experience was aboard the Sovereign, on which we embarked with some trepidation, not knowing if we would like it or not. Before we even cleared the ship's channel and made it to the open sea, we knew we would be back for more.

    PORTS
DH rarely gets off the ship in Nassau, and I do occasionally just to do some snorkeling. Nassau is just Nassau, and if you've been there, you'll now what I mean.

CocoCay, is another story, however. We are always eager for the next time we can set foot on the snow white sands of this little slice of paradise. The amazingly clear turquoise water there is beautiful, and in December is a little cool, but still swimmable. The signature drink of the island, the CocoLoco is delicious, and goes down very smoothly, even if you are not a big drinker.

    Hope this helps a little...
If you have specific questions, please ask, and I'll try my best to answer.
