I am in the area for Christmas/New Year but only from Val south and around the Horn though. I know this will probably sound odd, but I have done no research at all cos I want no preconceptions about the places before I get there as a total stranger. Hmmm I know that sounds weird but the whole SA experience just excites me cos its so untouched in places. However if anyone does have some insight into the history, then I am keen to learn

My husband and I am arriving at Santiago two days before our cruise in Crown in March 2006,we have made adjustments with www.enaturchile.comWe have received good report of them of other travellers. We will make a trip by the city of Santiago,we will visit vineyard Concha Toro and we will make the transference to Valparaiso with a tour by Vina del Mar. The prices are reasonable; they will have a car a driver and a guide for us

Important note to remember regarding Chile.

No foreign flagged ships are allowed to operate casino facilities whilst in Chilean territorial waters!!

This came into effect while I was cruising on Norwegian Crown. We left Valparaiso on Dec 18th and the casino was forced to close from Dec 20th til we reached Argentine territorial waters on Dec 26th.

Thanks for the warning, Ally! I'm wondering if my husband will want to get off the ship in Ushuaia now.
