A factoid for you Pagoda. The official name of Buenos Aires is: Puerto Nuestra Senora Santa Maria del Buen Aire. That translates to: Port of our Lady Saint Mary of the Fair Winds. Isn't that a lovely name for a port to either sail from (as we are) or sail to (as you are)?
    27 cruises and countin'!
Next cruise, July 12-26, 2008. NCL Jade 13 night cruise around the British Isles, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris.

To me, all of South America has a kind of romantic feel to it, especially around Cape Horn, where so many people sailed in tallships...and those who never went home. The whole area tween Valparaiso and BA is such an amazing mix of cultures, wildlife and scenery.

I cannot wait to board the first of the 3 planes on Dec. 15th at 1510 GMT.

This will be the trip of a lifetime for me in more ways than one.

It depends where in SA you are going. For cruises around the Cape between Argentina and Chile, it's best to go in their summer, Dec- Feb. Where were you thinking of going?

I have heard that the seas near and going around the cape are among the roughest in the world...
