    Roll Calls Closed to Guests?

If you are on one of the roll calls here ..would you prefer that it was closed to outsiders?
What I mean is..any non-registered member of CLF. We sometimes have "guests" that come to CLF and never register or post but can still read our threads. Is a roll call a private feature to you or do you care?

I voted that I don't care either way since I'm on the fence with this one.

Our existing Roll Call has some large numbers of guests from time to time, 5 one day. I sometimes wonder if my roomie for this cruise is one of those guests? I gave her a link to the site and roll call thread. She told me that she'll sometimes read some of the pages just to see what's going on, but the last time she had a chance to do any reading was a few weeks back since I keep her updated via email. She hasn't joined that I'm aware of, but I keep mentioning it

It doesn't really bother me that they're reading what we have posted, but I do find myself recently, after seeing the amount of guests viewing our Roll Call, not wanting to post some links with my reminders for ticket purchases to attraction sites where the numbers of people who could pre-book may be limited because I'm afraid the Guests might get their tickets prior to the "Members" that I'm putting that reminder out there for.

Once all the "Members" have their tickets, I have no problem sharing the info with anyone though, but my initial posting has to do with making sure my Roll Call peeps (CLF Members) get their tickets.

I do wonder if the guests viewing the thread are other people on the same cruise and are taking advantage of the fact that they can view the information we have posted and not have to share what they might know?

If they are on the same cruise, I wonder why they haven't joined and introduced themselves? But I am sure my roomie has also been a guest at one point so maybe they are like her

I think it's a good idea for guests to be able to read the roll calls...

You never know when one of those guests might be already booked on your sailing, and being able to join in the posting on the roll call might be the impetus they need to become a member of CLF.

OR they might see what a wonderful group is on that particular sailing, and decide to BOOK the sailing themselves, AND join CLF.

Since this is an open and friendly cruise community, I don't see why guests should not be able to read all the public forums.

True, we sometimes get the false sense of security that we are in a little room talking to each other, but this is the internet...and we should remember that, especially when we divulge personal info.

It does not bother me personally one way or the other.

Keep them open. That is one thing (of many) that seperates CLF from another board.

It doesn't bother me at all. In fact, it may encourage them to join and become a member! I never put anything in a thread that I wouldn't want anyone to read.

I like to look around on a site and read posts before I actually post so I think you should keep it open to all.

Closing the Roll Calls to visitors sounds good to me!

Possibly, more might join to view the Roll Calls!

Vistors can view all the other places on CLF so keeping the Roll Calls for members only is not a bad thing.
