Angry Carnival sticks it to single cruisers

    FYI:

Carnival is following in the footsteps of NCL and Princess.

They are now charging 200% NCF or port charges for a single passenger.
I am very upset about this and will be making a lot of calls tomorrow
    voicing my displeasure.

That stinks !! I have a younger co-worker who I keep telling him when he hits 21 (yes that young LOL) to take a singles themed cruise, or even just roll as a single with maybe a few single buddies but get different staterooms just in case. I further told him since he is so young to try one of the Carnival "Fun Ships" because he can be up all night drinking and meeting people and is a better ship to get wild on...

I will make sure to let him know NOT to do that LOL....

My last cruise as a single cost about $250.
With the new pricing it would cost almost $350.

I do not get it either. I know they plan the room for an average of two people, but why...

One less person, one less mouth to feed. So you should save for saving them.

I think that if someone who can eat a lot is on board and is seen ordering a third dinner (more then once), he should be charged 100$ extra... You bring one less person and have to pay more.. I am sorry kind of not fair...

You wanna ask them if singles will now get the full OBC (when offered) per cabin instead of half?

Different promo's are handled differently, but most of the time a single paying 200% will get the full OBC.

As more cruise lines get away with this ripoff, I'm sure they all will
    fall in line.

I guess hotels have been doing this for a while too. Not all but many charge by the room, not by the occupancy, and the tax too.

I guess the difference is in the port charges as they are pp....and separate of taxes.

It would be nice if they charged per cabin, regardless of the occupancy...lol, maybe...although, this would really only benefit the families and other quads...and a rare quint cabin...

Carnival is not the "wild party frat ship" anymore which is a good thing.
