Single Cruising - how does it work?

Is it like singles events, where a bunch of eligible people get together on a boat and mix and mingle and try to reenact titanic like love scenes?

I've cruised single many times, both on 3/4 days to 15 days. I've never been on a singles cruise. Although, I've never been on one, I imagine them to be like meat markets, sort of like the bar scene on land. I could be wrong, if so I apologize. I'm much happier doing my thing on a regular sailing. There are always plenty of nice people, both single and married. In addition to that, I've met alot of the crewmembers and the entertainment. I always have a nice time, whether relaxing or partying. It beats the heck out of working.

I've been cruising single for 5 years now but never on a singles cruise. Like Lawman, I think it would resemble the land based bar scene.
Most ships do have a singles get together type thing. I haven't attended any of those but if you have a single friend that would be an option for them. Someone I talked to that had gone to one said it was mostly ladies but that they saw some guys looking in. Only a couple of guys ventured in. There was a wide age bracket on the ladies side and what looked to be only a few younger guys.
I would say if you have a friend that is single and wants to cruise, tell him/her to go for it....... for the cruising experience and not to expect a Titanic reenactment.

I am newly single and wondering if I should ask a friend to cruise with me as opposed to cruising alone? I have heard so many bad things lately about cruising. I'm not scared, just cautious.

Hello Marjy, You're smart to be cautious, cruising tends to be safer than visiting and wandering around some cities but you still need to pay attention. I've met many single women cruising by themselves and they seem to do fine. I would not let fear hold you back. Go and enjoy.

I think it's best to go cruising with a buddy. Alone is just a bit to scary to me.

I would not cruise alone. I'll go w/ a group or with a friend or 2 but never alone.

I agree, I have never had a bad cruise and have always made plenty of friends, both singles and couples. No desire to go on a "Singles" cruise, but then I've never been into the "Bar Scene" on land either, I was a bartender for years and saw toooo much game playing, too old for that. I enjoy life no matter who I'm with or not with.

I'm thinking of booking a cruise and I'm single. I've been reluctant to book because I've not found anyone to go with me. Of course it's more expensive to go single, but that isn't as much of a concern to me as being all on my own. It sounds as if two views on this topic are represented here. I'm really nervous about going it alone. Any other comments out there?
