    Bathroom Amenities on the Serenade

Does RC provide shampoo, soap, tooth paste, hand lotion, floss, mouth wash, etc in their cabin bathrooms? I just want to make sure I'm not packing anything I don't need. I'll be taking my own tooth brush and shaving stuff, but what about the rest? Also, should I take some over the counter medicine, ie, advil, pepto, and some cold medicine? Thanks! It's my first cruise, as you can tell from my questions!!!!

Yes, take your own OTC medication. I beleive you can get basic medication from the doctors office, but I don't know if they will charge you or not for it. Best to be prepared for yourself. As for bathroom amenities, there is soap, shampoo. You need to bring your own tooth paste, floss, mouth wasth. They don't provide all guests with hand lotion, but you can ask your room steward for some.

Suites are provided with bath gel and lotion, I believe. Definitely take any specific OTC meds you normally use. There will ba some in the gift shop, but your choices will be limited, and the price will not be cheap. You can get some meds at the doctors office, but you will pay. Only use the gift shop or doctor as a last resort for meds, since their prices, while still affordable, reflect that they have no competition. (But if you need a doctor, feel comfortable going to the one on the ship. They are all very good. They will charge you for a visit, but a vacation is no time to be sick.)

You are probably better off getting meds in a pharmacy in port than you are on the ship - depends on the port. I was able to pick up bandaids and antacids in Aruba, but the brands were different than what we had had at home - they were from the Netherlands!

i beleive the only meds you can get for free on the ship are meclazine from the pursers office, better known as the same medicine that makes up dramamine and bonine.

You can probably get the basic otc meds in the ship's shop, but you'll be paying much more for smaller bottles. Be safe and take what you think you might need.

We should clarify "suite". We were in a JS (junior suite), and only got the soap and shampoo. No hand lotion or anything else. I was disappointed too, as on our last cruise on a Radiance class, we had hand lotion and q tips.

Interesting, Hanna...we have always had an oceanview on HAL and always get lotions, etc. And the last time, we had lovely, plush robes!!
