CLF Carnival & Costa Navigator

Thanks to all of you.![]()

Back from the Bahamas,( more like Alaska). Brought warm clothes, thank goodness, but the weather sure curtailed most everything. I plunked myself at smoker tables by the pool, met each day with 4-6 regulars to chat and do the coffee thing with them.(while complaining about the coolness and shivering) Last time I would not dare to intrude on a table, but it worked. I found that although YourTime dining was handy, there's no special treatment for solos, you got placed randomly. I thought the atmosphere felt "too busy" with people in all different phases of dining, service was much slower. Glad being a server isn't my job. Avoided it day 3 and 4, did cafeteria style with another person I met. Not as elegant, but worked out better. I did Elegant night solo, went to EVERY picture taking station in hopes of getting at least one good pic. With the help of my dining friend, actually found 2! Two years ago I couldn't even make myself get into a gown (memories hit hard then), so hurdles are being overcome.
What can you say about Carnival's food? Gone are low grade goodies of years ago
. Carnival can keep up with the rest of the best. I thought no one could keep up with Celebrity, but Carnival can and does.
Didn't do any special excursions due to the cold weather except shopping the local markets and buying nothing. Of course hit the usual haunts inside the ship.
The singles get together fizzled, I think I was the only one! Michaelangelo's had only 2 couples there. Some small groups of females peeked in the door, but with no action going on in there, they too left.
It wasn't a festive atmosphere this trip, but I proved to myself that with a little effort, shipboard connections can be made.I spent a bit of time chatting with a solo cruiser on her first solo. She was actually the tour bus driver for a group there. So, my objective was accomplished. I actually think being solo in a cabin wasn't too bad at least for this particular cruise it's the supplement that ruins it.![]()
Welcome back!
Sorry if I missed something in your post, but would you do a solo cruise again?
Welcome back, Ruthlessboss.
