What improvements by cruise lines would better fit our needs? Multi

What do you now want form a cruise line and what improvements would you like?

Senior cruisers certainly have the time and often the money to take longer cruises at times of the year that many others can not. Also, more and more Baby Boomers are on the way.

We may be older but we aren't dead. We still want to have fun and are often quite active. Yet, we may tend to go to bed earlier and have health issues .....

This poll is multi so pick as many as you wish and ... PLEASE ... list additional suggestions!

I would really like to see more entertainment throughout the day.. I see nothing wrong with a jazz session at 1 in the afternoon..

Maybe it's me but I have never found much of interest to do on a sea day in bad weather on any ship, what would I like to do? I don't know sorry!

I'll agree with JoeyandDavid about the jazz session in the afternoon. I would like to see a Library that is NOT also the gameroom so that a person is able to read where it is quiet.

I really liked that you included the shade option Lulu. I find that as I get a bit older, I don't need to broil in the sun anymore. A nice shady spot is great.
That is one of the reasons I enjoy the solarium's. Except so do all the other old ones.

Two things come to mind - first have one side of the ship's balconies NON-SMOKING and the other side for the smokers - can you tell that I have had my problems with smokers on the balcony next to mine. On my last cruise (Radiance of the Seas – I had a hump cabin – paid almost 200% for the privilege) – the person next to me smoked about 8-10 cigars every day (based on the ash tray that the cabin steward emptied every morning) – I gave up using my balcony. I don't book them any more. My suggestion would allow everyone to enjoy their balcony

My second suggestion is for more good old fashion Rock-and-Roll bands in one of the bars and hopefully have it a non-smoking bar.

Tom, you might enjoy Celebrity ... NO SMOKING in the cabins OR on the balconies.
NO smoking in the casino and most bars.

One is for a place for us to dance to music which is not rap crap or big band, something else would nice, country, old rock and roll.

I would agree about having afternoon music such as jazz or oldies rock n' roll (hopefully both types). Occasionally we've been able to enjoy live music in the afternoon on some ships, IIRC.

I'm a big trivia buff, but can understand that there's a need for a variety of activities during the day.

    Thanks Char,

When I was looking at the Rotterdam (HAL) - they have a new "class of rooms” called Lanai. The staterooms have a sliding door that opens directly onto the Promenade Deck. When I check with HAL about the smoking policy on the Promenade Deck - the HAL Rep said "it is up to the individual Captain as to whether people can smoke on the Promenade Deck".

Needless to say, I won't be spending the significant extra money for the Lanai class stateroom.
