On Amtrak the senior rate is for passengers 62 years old.
I'll be there the next time I ride the train. The discount is good for the basic rail fare not for upgrades such as sleepers or Business Class Service. It is good at all times not just certain times like the cruise lines.

Your comments above reminded me of a Christmas season dinner at my cousin's house years ago. The topic turned to remembering events of years past in which our parents played major roles. They represented the older generation for us.

Almost simultaneously we realized that not a single one of them remained. We had become, without realizing it on a conscious level, the older generation.

A silence deeper than a winter solstice night descended on the room. It was a while before anyone spoke again.
