Would LOVE to hear why you like Cunard better than Celebrity in general. Your opinions could be helpful to many.
Not that Celebrity isn't a good cruiseline because it is and so is HAL or Princess when doing a TA. Cunard ( QM2) is just special as noted by our other member. We were introduced to "Tea Time" and WOW!! We didn't go to the first ones and just decided on a whim to partake on the 4th day and wanted to kick ourselves for skipping them on those first few days. You talk about a difference...live music with string instruments...great teas, scones, sandwiches and so much more. The room is just magnificent and so relaxed that we did 'tea' for the rest of the trip.

We had a balcony deck which was private on the floor we were on...down the hall and towards the pool overlook is a deck with fruit and drinks that were for our floor...all you could eat and drink. The ship is so wide that you never felt you were on a ship...the MDR was amazing as well as the private rooms as well. We were on this ship for 13 nights and still did not cover the whole ship. The service was impeccable as the staff are well trained in serving...you never had to ask for anything. They aren't rude and they are there to make your trip the best it can be...I would suggest everybody try this ship at least once...you will see the difference on the very first day.

Alot of these are basically all-inclusive and also provide complimentary shore excursions as part of the cruise.

We know that Azamara is not any better than Celebrity or and Regent and the others come with a double or triple price difference. I just can't see paying $4 grand for a 7 day cruise...regardless of what they do...unless I hit the lottery and I may eat my words on this.

I prefer Cunard to Celebrity (it could be the fact that I am British). The main reasons are the afternoon tea served in the Queen's room (very smart) and the English pub grub (I particularly like the fish and chips) served in the Golden Lion Pub at lunch times. In fact I have noted that other Carnival owned lines (Princess) have started to do English pub food on thieir ships so it most have proved popular with American passengers. The guest lecturers are usually good on Cunard and the entertainment is better. However, I would say that the food is better on Celebrity but as I only eat in the Britannia grill and not in the best dining resturants which are reserved for suite passengers, i can't say whether these are betteror not.
The menus on Cunard are superior than just about any other line as well entertainment is as you said...much better and more professional. We never had to worry about "The hairiest chest...belly flop contests...or who can get the drunkest" on Cunard.

And 2 for 1 fares right now. Unfortunately they are still higher than Cunard or Celebrity.

Hi I perfer Silversea cruises (I know they are expensive) I don't partcipate in most daytime activities, I perfer to read a good book and have an occassional swim, but most of all I enjoy the good food and attentive service. I feel I deserve a little pampering as I get older
