I believe "Old" is always 15 years older than whatever age I am!

Bad thing about being a senior....................."forget " to take the discounts

Old 03-24-2006, 05:42 PM Captain Larry is offline     #15 (permalink)
I joined AARP for the discounts a few days before my 50th birthday. I let the membership lapse last year because of my objections to their political agenda. I claim every possible senior discount and (this may be a comment on my appearance) I usually don't have to show any identification. I do most of my "organized" travel with senior groups. I guess since our "disorganized" travel is mostly with my First Mate and another couple just slightly older than us, it's with a "senior group" also. But the real question was "how old?" You're a senior citizen when you stop lying about your age, and start bragging about it.

When a man was celebrating his 100th birthday, his son asked, "Pop. What's the best thing about being 100?" The answer was, "No peer pressure."

In looking at the seniors sailings, I have not found one to my liking. Maybe they think seniors don't live it up, but by golly, we do.

I may grow old, but I will never grow up!

Isn't a senior someone who is in their last year of whatever? Senior in high school, senior in college.....

If senior means attaining a certain age or amount of wisdom, then I am a senior.

If senior means giving up on all fun things, sitting in a rocker and hurrumphing at the younger generation, then I have some years yet to go.

If senior means accepting a discount, hey, you bet I am one.
If senior means taking a backseat when both fun and responsibillities are being dished out, again, I have some years to go.

If senior means living with constant aches and pain from a creaking and well-used body, then I am one.
If senior means turning down living just to nurse those aches and pains or to get sympathy for them, no way am I a senior.

I guess being a senior has both advantages and drawbacks. I'll take both, so long as I can keep up with the joy of living.

love
joan
