The Oceanaire restaurant comes highly recommended by my travel agent, if you are a seafood lover. It is near downtown.

I had dinner at the Dahlia lounge in 1995 and I thought it was very good. Since it is still open, they must be doing something right!!!!

I spent quite a few years up in the Northwest and it really depends on what you are looking for. If you want a true dining experience, you certainly need to dine at the Space Needle.
If you want family seafood, Ivar's is great.
We would always take visitors to the Spaghetti Factory, good and cheap!!
McCormick and Schmitts is good for steaks.
Make a stop at Pike Street Market, many nice eating places in there also.

It's true, it all depends on what you are looking for. Whenever I am in Seattle I find that I eat a lot of seafood. How can you not when it is so fresh? The Oceanaire is by far my favorite place to eat, great seafood (and more!)

If you are into Brew Pub style food, there are some great beers & lunch options at Hale's Ales Brewery & Pub in downtown Seattle. The Red Lion downtown (5th Ave?) has an Elephant & Castle, which is also Pub style dining and some great late-night snacking.

The Spaghetti Factory is a classic.

Pike's market also has a place or two where you can eat, most of which include a great view overlooking the harbor.

One of the great things about Seattle is all of the culture. You can also find Caribbean, Indian and great Japanese food. And let's not forget all of the Sushi! I called 411 once to see who had sushi closest to my location and after about 40 names, the operator finally said, "That's a lot of fish, maam." (I'll forgive him for the maam thing.

These are just a few of my favorite places, I would love to hear of some more. I'm always willing to try something new!
Let your conversation be gracious and attractive, so that you will have the right response for everyone.

Let's not forget the Space Needle for a unique dining experience. The food is exceptional and the restaurant revolves for a stunning view of Seattle. Just remember where your table is if you get up to use the restroom

If you like Italian food, served family style, in a loud, fun setting, try Buca di Beppo. Fun, crazy place, fantastic food, right by Lake Union. Crazy art and celeb photos. Make ressies on the weekends. THE place to go, especially with a group.

Wow, recommending restaurants in Seattle is tough because we have so many great places to eat here. It comes down to how much do you want to spend, waht part of town are you looking into, what cuisine do you want, etc. The choices are endless.

I will say Sattle is pretty casual. I'm not aware of anywhere that requires coat and tie for men.

Some of my favorites (all have web sites):

    Palamino
    Anthony's
    Ivars
    Buca di Beppo
    cascadia
    Oceanaire

Another good website for info: citysearch.com

    Good luck picking just one!

What part of town are you staying in and is there any particular type of food you are looking for.
