Seattle Excursions (Iknow it isn't a port)

Ok all I thought I would start a thread for the Seattle excursions just in case anyone was coming in there for a day or two also.

I thought I would do the underground tour of Seattle.

There is the Space Needle (no duh huh?)

    There is the Sciene museum.

    The wooden boats.

There are many more but those are a few that are fun.

I'm glad you added this Helen! I hope to spend at least a day in Seattle. I've never been there before.

Thumbs up Hiram M. Chittenden Locks

What's there to do at the Locks? The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks are always a great attraction. Late summer/early fall is a great time to enjoy the beautiful Carl S. English, Jr. Botanical Garden. The gift shop has a wonderful garden pamphlet which can help you find many of the rare and exotic plants waiting to be discovered. Every trip to the Locks should include a walk in the garden, watching the boats, visiting the fish ladder, and exploring the exhibits and gift shop in the Visitor Center. Visitor Center Hours The visitor center operates under two seasonal schedules, winter and summer. Winter hours (October 1 through April 30) of operation are from 10 am to 4 pm, closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Summer hours (daily, May 1 through September 30) are from 10 am to 6 pm. Free guided tours are provided from March 1 through November 30. Call the Visitor Center at (206) 783-7059 for tour times and additional information. Witness one of nature's mysteries as Salmon return to the Lake Washington watershed The Chinook (king) salmon have arrived at the Locks and are passing through the fish ladder into Lake Washington. Chinook are the largest of the salmon species and are also known as King Salmon. They will be passing through the fish ladder from August through November. The peak of the run is usually the last two weeks of August depending on Ocean conditions. Coho (silver) salmon continue to pass through the fish ladder until the end of November but the peak of this run occurs the last two weeks of September.

They are all good things to see based on personal interest.
It is quite possible to see more than one of them in a day.
The Pike Place Market is probable the most popular. I worked there one summer as a teenager.
For those into Rock N Roll, the EMP is very popular. It started as a Jimmy Hendrix museum and has grown a lot since.

I will do some research and post more details

    Museum of Flight: Seattle, WA

    SEAPLANES FROM SEATTLE
NO CHECK-IN LINES! NO GATE HOLDS! NO LOST LUGGAGE!

There was a time in your life when "flight" was about dreams and imagination, not delays and hassles. At The Museum of Flight, it still is. Just ten minutes from downtown Seattle, the magic of flight lives on, and it's yours to rediscover.

The Museum has acquired a British Airways Concorde-the only one on the West Coast! Concorde arrived in true style setting a new world's record time from New York to Seattle.

So test the controls in the cockpit of the world's fastest jet. Dock with the Hubble Space Telescope. Journey through history with the presidents aboard Air Force One. Explore life without gravity in an International Space Station module. Fly a wild airshow routine in the X-Pilot full-motion simulator. Teach your kid how airplanes fly (or perhaps learn yourself!) in the hands-on Flight Zone. Scope out the traffic on busy Boeing Field from the Control Tower exhibit. Or follow in the footsteps of the pioneers in the workshop where Bill Boeing built his first airplane.

Dreams depart daily at The Museum of Flight, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

    Free parking.

Mike with Pikes place (there is also the worst part of town near there so if you are going to be walking you are fine just don't hang out on the street corner too long because that is where the homeless and drugies hang.) Not saying it is bad there is just bad in every city you visit, you can see that along with something like the space needle. The Pacific science center is right near the space needle. Depending on how many there are maybe we could rent a van to see some of the things there and then drive it up to Vancouver the next day. Then there would be an available vehicle there to tour too. Just a thought.

Three of our group going at the science center.
