I will be in Seattle for two days prior to my cruise on the Oosterdam and I would like to know if there are any other places besides the space needle, fish market, and underground city that would be worthwhile to visit.
Three years ago I was in Seattle, post cruise, for my third time, the first time for hubby and the girl. I knew the perfect place for my family...the science museum that's next to the Space Needle. We spent several hours there and probably didn't see the whole thing. We also went to Pike Place (I'm guessing that's what you mean by the fish market) and drove down to Olympia.
The aeronautical museum at Boeing Field is well worth seeing if you have the time. It has everything from the original red barn that Boeing started in, to a retired Air Force One modified 707 that you can climb aboard to see how the President lived aboard.
I belive it's called the Museum of Flight. To truly take all of it in........it's about a half day experience.
Depending on your interests, another possibility is the Experience Music Project. (EMP). It is also located at the Seattle Center along with the Space Needle and the Pacific Science Center. emplive.org
Another place that we commonly take people is the Locks that connect Puget Sound with the ship canal and Lake Washington.

That is the Museum of Flight. They also now have a Concord. I do not know if it is open to go into yet.

In our SEATTLE Forum , there are a couple of suggestions. A thread that talks about riding the Spirit of Washington Dinner Train, and one about a Whale Watching excursion both sould pretty interesting...
You might also consider posting your question in that forum. We have a couple of members from the area who might be likely to nitice it there, and give you some good suggestions...
We'd love to hear about it!
If you wouldn't mind, please stop by our SEATTLE FORUM and tell us about what you enjoyed about the aquarium. Feel free to start a new thread about it in that forum!
Don't forget to enjoy the new sculpture park, very near the downtown cruise terminal. A wonderful use of otherwise unusable urban space. We sat looking out over the North Meadow and the bay in chairs they have. Sculpture is interesting, too, and there are "guides" to answer questions. There's a particularly great sculpture that has something to do with waves, but reminded me of ocean liners ...see if you can find it!
Also, any restaurant by Tom Douglas is a treat...we were in four: Dahlia's for cocktails, Dahlia's bakery for lunch (cafe table on the sidewalk) Etta's for dinner (right near Pike's Market) and Lola for a reunion dinner with cruise friends. His coconut Cream pie is to die for! Food and atmosphere struck just the right balance of fun, hip, gourmet, but feeling more like a local than a tourist. (Although Etta's had a number of tourists there...)
Lastly, our hotel was AMAZING....a little pricey at $225. a night, but one of the nicest we've stayed in. Hotel 1000 right in downtown.
