    Binny,

Is there anything you would like to know before you get here?

What is "Cruise-a-Thon"? BTW, last summer was hubby's and daughter's first time in Seattle -- my third -- and they really enjoyed themselves.

    Seattle

We are sailing on the Vision OTS in June, 2006. Seattle is our port of embarkation and debarkation. We plan to arrive one day early and stay one day post-cruise. I have heard that downtown Embassy Suites is a good location, and my travel agent recommends the Oceanaire restaurant. Of course we will want to do the fish market...any other suggestions?

I know they keep building more hotels here but I am not aware of an Embassy Suites downtown. Also it is not on their website www.embassysuites.com
I would suggest that you stay downtown, Seattle Center, or Lake Union areas. Silver Cloud and Courtyard by Marriott have locations next to Lake Union. Marriott also has a location right accross the street from Pier 66. (about 2 blocks from Pike Place Market)

I have never been to Oceanaire (nor had I heard of it before). I found their website http://www.theoceanaire.com/home.html
They have locations in several cities. There are quite a number if excellent local seafood resturants. A couple of the better known are Anthony's and Ivars.

How much you can fit in other than the market would depend on how much time you have. The Market can easily take a couple hours or more. Bus service within the downtown core is free.

    Hi Blizzard...

Well June 22 is getting closer and we have tentatively reserved a waterview room at Inn at the Market. We tried to reserve a water-side at the Marriott Harbor, but couldn't get a guarantee we wouldn't be staring at an Interstate.
We arrive in Seattle about 10:00 a.m. on Thursday and will want to be at the dock around 11:30 a.m. on Friday. I understand that the monorail is not working, so we'll look for other things to do downtown.
Can you tell us more about a seafood restauant you recommend near the Market?
    We appreciate your help...

Here is the website for Anthony's Homeport at pier 66
    http://www.anthonys.com/restaurants/info/pier66.html
They have several locations and we have eaten at several of them. Seafood is the speciality. I believe Copper River Salmon will still be in season when you get here. It is the best of the variety of salmon.

The monorail is still being repaired but they are running special buses from Westlake Center to the Seattle Center. It is easy to spend several hours touring just the Pike Place Market. There is a lower level with some interesting shops. Within a few blocks of the Market there is a Macy's and the flagship Nordstrom store. There is free bus service in the downtown core and that include the historic Pioneer Square district at the other end of downtown.

I have heard good things about the Inn at the Market.

I will be in Seattle in July, I'm not going on a cruise, only as a wedding guest on the ship. We're staying at a hotel called The Andra, is it close enough to walk to the port, or will we need a taxi? Also, do you know of any good restaurants around that hotel?

    Thanks for any info

What ship will the wedding be held on? If it is an NCL or Celebrity ship you will be close to Pier 66. If it is HAL, Princess or RCL then it is a couple miles away at Terminal 30.

The Andra is is Belltown at the north end of the Downtown area. There are a number of nice restaurants in the area. Cutter's and Anthony's Homeport come to mind.
