Disposable Snorkel Tube???

In browsing around, I found a private excursion company that advertises they provide disposable snorkel tubes as part of the equipment on their snorkel trip.

How sensible is that?!?

I've not seen this before... has anyone else?

Has anyone had any experience using a disposable snorkel tube? Can you tell us about it?

Hi Canarymoon, i was also looking at this , because we are looking for as many sites to snorkel at as we can. that is one of our stops in January.

All i could find was the water park in Mexico ( cant think of name starts with an X )lets you use their gear for a deposit but you can keep the snorkel tube if you would like as a souvenier because they call them disposable.

That is all i could find out...hope this helps.

I think we will that our own mask and snorkel, i don't know if you are allowed to do this or not at alot of places, like Labadee,Cozumel, etc. would you know this.

David

I'm sure it is the cheapest snorkel they can find and you can take it with you or they can throw it away.

Also equally sure it is functional.

Even at retail prices, decent traditional snorkels can be had for under $5 and I would guess much less at wholesale.

An example (this may be the one that Carnival sells on their ships for $5 and no doubt still make money.

I've heard of disposable mouth pieces, but not entire snorkels. Maybe that's what they mean...???

You can use your own gear on any excursion or island . . .

I always use my own snorkel and mask (it has a perscription lens) but tend to use their fins (since they are bulky to pack) and their sefety vest (IF they insist.)

Thanks, i thought they might not want you to have your own, so they can charge you for the use. I took all my gear when we went to Negril and you are right the fins way too big and bulky. It will be good to take own mask and snorkel.

we are going to book the guys at Cozumel.

2 Months from today...cannot wait , we were just hit with a real bad snow storm and it is not even winter yet

David - I am wondering if anyone else has used these particular guys in Coz... I haven't, and don't know anything about them, other than what I read on their site. Maybe someone here can tell you more about whether they are reputable or not.

As far as charging for the use of their equipment vs. their own -standard practice is to charge a set price, including the use of their equipment. But there is no reduction in price if you bring your own.

Have a wonderful time in Coz... there is some really good snorkeling there!
