Dry Snorkel?

Here's a question for our experienced snorkelers:

What's a "Dry Snorkel?"
How is it different (and better?) than a regular snorkel?

If you know all about these devices, please educate us!

It is also called "SeaSpy", it is basically a little Jet Ski like "boat", on which you lay on your stomach and look into a glass bottom boat style "mask" and drive the "boat" around with a joystick...it was shortly offered in Cozumel but conditions were unfavorable and it will now be offered new in Costa Maya.
Anotherone is the Mini Submarine tour in Cozumel, you will get wet since you sit on an underwater scooter but have your head in a helmet that is filled with air...lots of fun!

????????????????????

A dry snorkel has a mechanism for closing the airway whenever it comes in contact with water and then opening when not in contract with water.

They are great for beginners or those who seem to have trouble knowing when a regular snorkel is filling with water.

I just use a regular snorkel.

zydecocruiser is correct; a dry snorkel is exactly what the link provides. Basically, it's a snorkel that will not allow water to enter the tube. Unlike the kind that just have an opening that will allow water to flow into the tube if accidently submerged. There are several manufacturers that sell this type of snorkel and although they are a little pricey, they work great for newbies.

The 'SeaSpy' is a completely different way to look under the water without actually snorkeling. Very nice for those who don't like to put their face into the water or put a mask on.

I like the dry snorkel from Oceanmaster.
I've got one...and I'm no newbie.

The dry snorkel is great in rough water...as it closes the tube when a wave blasts over your head. They are also great if you like to dive down and get a closer look at things below. Just another nice feature in snorkels. We like them a lot.

Here's me using one:

I've always used some sort of dry snorkel and I've been snorkeling and diving for 10 years. I just bought a new one last week because my old one was getting kinda yucky.(It was 6 years old) I got the Scuba Pro Laguna through leisurepro dot com for about $20.
