Is this the one off of Tonga?Originally Posted by canarymoon
I was watching a PBS special ( I know, I'm a nerd) about whales in general, specifically about the effects of navy sonar and how it affects whales.
Anyhow, they were talking about whale preservation in Tonga and how in the waters off Tonga, there are humpback whales that are constantly in the area. You can take tours out to these waters and then jump right in and snorkel with the whales. They showed it and it was AMAZING. The whales didn't at all seem to mind or care that there were humans there. They did their thing and the tourists just snorkeled around watching them. At points the snorkelers couldn't have been more than 20-30 feet from these amazing humpbacks.
It was amazing to see, but I am not sure I would have the guts to get into the water...
Read my review of my Mediterranean/Greek Isles cruise!
Check out my photos!
I bleed BLUE and GOLD...
I just booked with Stuart Cove's for Nassau. I really hope that we have time to swim with the sharks. They said there maybe 3 dives. They can use me to hold the bait box. I want to meet these fish up close and personal. And yes I will have my camera with me.
Those ought to be some great photos!
