Our first cruise started in San Juan (many, many years ago) on Cunard.

Since we were doing back-to-back cruises we waled to El Morro Castle -- loved it. Also spent the day walking through all the shops near the pier.

Another time we took the city tour.

And on another stop there we walked to San Cristobal Fortress.

Before a fire gutted the original Hard Rock Cafe we used to stop there for lunch (and drinks).

We also did the Bacardi Distillary a couple of years -- DON'T DO IT - a waste of money.

The last couple of years HAL now stops there late in the day and stays until around 11 or midnight (which we don't like) and expects everyone to book the late night dancers thing.

    Otherwise we like San Juan.

Yes, but the restaurants and bars stay open late. We stayed in San Juan for 7 days once at a Florida Bar seminar, so I have seen the daytime and nighttime sights.

We have been there twice and liked it both times. First time we took a tour with a taxi and saw the newer section with beautiful hotels, drove by some forts and through old San Juan.
Second trip we walked around old San Juan and stopped for a couple of drinks.

I would like to see to see the rainforest, but beyond that I am unimpressed.
    Have a GREAT day! Gayla

It is beautiful. So tropical and lush. There were plants I had never seen before that were breath-taking!

I enjoyed the stop there, but you do need more time. The castle was nice and in the evening we had a lovely dinner and drinks in ole San Juan outside in the streets. Lovely place
