Thread: No cruise lines offer Beach Excursions in San Juan! WHY?

Why don't ANY mass market cruise lines offer beach excursions in San Juan?

There are several reasons, I mean I am not sure but here it goes.
1. the cruise line is more interested in offering the tours that most people want, which will be San Juan and the rain forest.
2. the ground transportation company that handles the tours, see it that way too.
3. San Juan does not have really great beaches near by and the other island do, therefore go to the other islands.
Remember San Juan is a big city with 1.5 million people in its metropolitan area
4. Escambron, is the closest beach to the cruise ships. Its a small beach with a few palm trees. Its close to the Caribe Hilton. It has restrooms, restaurant and food stand thyat make good piña coladas.
I like it, its where I go .
You can take a cab there or its about 1/2 hour walk.
If you see a guy on hammock , playing guitar it might be me.

tour46 .... Thanks for your good reply! You bring up some very good points on why beach excursions are not offered.

We will just continue to do what we've done in the past if we are in San Juan on a cruise that has a morning arrival and be there all day: Rent a hotel room (make sure they will allow early arrival) on the beach for the day and take a taxi to and fro.
