Hello Ruth ... sorry I missed you Talks to Strangers......... but yes, gallery night is very special on the first Tuesday of the month...galleries are open and so are the stores, there is music in different places, artists painting people and selling their paintings..
It is one of the better night in the city,
Restaurants are open and I recommend Restaurante Raíces
but there are others.
but do what the locals do...try an ALCAPURRIA with a piña colada as you simply walk up and down the streets.

Wow...what a question. You know I never thought about it but as I was ready to sit down and write what is an ALCAPURRIA, a million things went through my mind.
But to keep it simple an ALCAPURRIA is a grated green banana mixture layed out like a pasta , you put some ground beef chicken that was cooked in a creole sauce on top and the you fold it like an omelet. This is deep fried for about 10 minutes. In other words it is a banana -beef patty.
Later on I`ll tell you how an ALCAPURRIA with a PIñA COLADA is basically a way of life. Its has an island history which is very unique of Puerto Rico.

Have been away from CLF for a while (FAR too long) and just today I got back here to posting and checking things out. So glad to see that Victor is here and offering his expert advice on San Juan.

We were in San Juan last week and took a tour with Victor and had the MOST wonderful time! He truly knows and loves his island and it was the best tour. We got off the Crown Princess very late, it was pouring rain, but there he was, waiting patiently right outside with my name on a sign (easy to spot). Took us thru OSJ and then to Bacardi for the tour. We wanted something to eat before heading out to the airport and he took us to a local fast food place, with the best food!

THANK YOU VICTOR from Ruth and her gang! We will be back next October and will definitely book your tour again (maybe next year we can actually get some good tour time with you!)

Very soon I'll be making plans for that cruise and will be back with more questions on hotels (we want to stay at least 1-2 nights post cruise) and suggestions for things to do and see. I'm so glad we'll be able to get your expert advice right here on CLF!
