    Bioluminescence Bay Kayak Tour

Bioluminescence Bay is one of the few places in the world considered to be a wonder of nature.
    On this excursion you will:
    • Take a 1-½ hour trip to Fajardo, as your guides provide a narrative of your surroundings.
    • Paddle across the mangrove channels of "Las Cabezas de San Juan" natural reserve.
    • Pass the Fajardo Light House under the enchanting blanket of the night sky.
    • Marvel at the water, rich in bioluminescent organisms.

I think a lot of folks would, but don't know if any CLFers actually have.

Cruise Cat posted on this forum a while back, asking if anyone had done this particular excursion, and if so, how they liked it. He didn't get any responses.

From the information I've seen, these tours are offered by quite a few different operators. If you contact the one you're thinking of using they could give you info on whether they could arrange a hotel pick-up shuttle or if you're planning on renting a car give you driving directions to their meeting point where the tour starts.

One other important thing to mention is to check the "Moon Calendar" for your dates since too much moonlight has a negative impact on the amount of bioluminescence.

    Hi all,

I did this excursion off the Carnival Miracle! It was always soo popular so was thrilled to get the opportunity. It is a great tour if you get the chance and if being outdoors and getting close to nature is something that you do enjoy! You will be outside and possibly a little bit wet... But it was soo magical. Its a bit of a drive from the port and then you arrive to get life jackets, instructions and your kayak. The guides were very friendly and very personable and as you start off paddling down the river they provide good commentary. As you travel along the bioluminsence starts to show up every time your paddle dips into the water and the water sparkles and glows little magical raindrops fly up into the air like liquid silver. The only word to describe it is magical!

Then as you paddle along all of sudden you come out in this beuatiful lake where again the guides provide some great information and update you on how this magical condition occurs.

Fascinating and absolutely stunning. It was a privelege to be a part of something so amazing and that is not possible to do in very many countries around the world!

If you're looking to do something a little bit out of the ordinary I can definitely recommend this tour!

Your description is truly magical! If I was sailing out of San Juan this is something not to be missed. Thanks!
