Thank you for the replies. We will be there in Jan, so it is high season. I think there is only one Holiday Inn Express.
We have been to the Marriott Stelaris. You will love it!

We enjoyed the Holiday Inn San Juan, it's in a pretty convenient location downtown

I would have to agree with canary moon. Holiday Inn express is simple but the idea is to just go there to sleep.
It depends on your budget. The other hotels that they listed are nice but more expensive. We have stayed at the Hotel Milano which is 115.00 a night. It is just small and no frills but in a great location in OSJ to walk to many things. This August we are going to stay pre and post cruise at a place called Da House which is also in OSJ. Many people say that it is noisy but the rooms are nice and 80.00 to 120.00 and you can pick your own room to stay in. We found that all hotels were noisy in OSJ. It just depends on if you want a clean room to shower and sleep or if you want the frills and will be in your room alot. When we go we don't stay in the room hardly at all-there is to much to see!![]()
We have stayed at La Concha Renaissance, Holiday Inn Express, and Le Consulat all in Condado. All are within blocks of each other. All were okay for a pre-cruise stay. Keep in mind, San Juan hotels are more expensive and the rooms are generally smaller. The Ashford area in Condado was looking a little run-down last year when we visited; but, the beach is very nice (brown sand). Taxis and buses are readily available to take you to OSJ. The old fort (El Morro) and the Raices Fountain at sunset are two of my favorite places in the old city.
Hi Greenscooter, when you mentioned the Raices fountain it reminded me of a restaurant in old San Juan called RAICES.... great place great food, very authentic and typical ... see more at:
Restaurante Raíces
