Lets start with a visit to the old city. There you have to enter atleast one of the two forts. After that visit, you will need to refresh with maybe a complimentary rum drink at Don Q or some other store.
For more information , aske me I know.

Do they do this very often, Victor?
we will be in san juan in january 2008
We will be doing the walking tour of the forts and old city
shopping tour
How far of a walk is it back to the port if walking.
We will be on the carnival cruise ship Triumph
To Canary Moon, basically yes, all over the island, we celebrate patron saint festivals and every night there is a band, you just have to go to the town where the festival is at, for example San Juan is June 24, San Lorenzo is Set 15.
To Hammer....That is all walking distance. From the fort back to the ship is a 1/2 mile as you walk right through the older part of town.
I f you consider a guided walking tour , see my signature.
Hi Victor, this is my first time of using this site but I have been reading loads of corries from everyone - I am just getting used to navigating the site. Here goes, we are cruising with RCI on Expolorer at the beginning of Jan 08 and are visiting San Juan - we arrive 7am and leave 2pm. Ideally we would like to do a beautiful beach, but is this possible in the time we have. Can we just get off the ship and hail a cab or do you have any contacts for us to book with. Alternatively, are there any private hire boats that can take us to a smaller island with wonderful beaches in the time that we have here or are we too far away from this.
If would appreciate any help as I am trying to pre arrange our ports of call before we travel to optimise our time.
Thank you (We are two adults and two children aged 11 and 14).

Welcome to the friendliest cruise forum on the internet!
Our man in San Juan is a big help! I'm sure Victor will steer you in the right direction.
In the meantime, come on over to the Introduce Yourself board and let's get acquainted. Here is the link--> Introduce Yourself!
Hi dancing alcoholics, thanks for looking through cruiselinefans.com to find information on things to do while on your cruise.
There are various things you can do but going to the beach during your stay in San Juan is not really the greatest. Please keep in mind that all the smaller islands that you visit have some nearby nice beaches. In San Juan, you are looking at a big city where the prettier beaches are farther away.
Now, what you should do is take advantage of old san Juan.
Its a small part of this a big city , and your ships docks right there.
So visit the old forts, walk around the streets and see the plazas. Visit several small historical and art museums.
This and much more is there to see in the old city.
The smaller boat once again is something that is easier in the smaller islands. Imagine you will have to drive an hour just to get to a small boat.
How`s that?

Hello Victor: Been to Puerto Rico many times.
We're arriving Tuesday, 29 January, 2008 from 1330 to 2000.
Just want to know the lunch hours for La Mallorquina.
We try to have some Asapao there with some flan for dessert whenever we're in San Juan.
We also like to stop by The Butterfly People to see if there's anything else we would like to bring home from them.
Thanks for the information.
