No matter how many times I go to San Francisco, I always love to ride the cable cars. I like to hit the artisan booths near Fisherman's Wharf and the view lounge at the Moscone Marriott.

The deYoung Museum in Golden Gate Park is NEW. $130,000,000 worth of new. http://www.thinker.org/deyoung/

But the earthquake of '89 did in the old building.

You will love or hate the new building. But you will love the exhibits.

If you like cable cars then you will love their web site. http://www.sfcablecar.com

I think they have the rates wrong. Best to call ahead. The number will be on the page.

Also make sure to visit the gripmans page to see just how the gripman makes it work.

The convention and visitors site is at
    http://www.sfcvb.org/

They have a lot of information on their site. I find it a bit sparce. But they will not send you into anything negative.

We do conventions, lots of conventions. And we want you to have a good time, a good memory of the city and we want you to come back.

You might want to check out the rec and park site at http://www.parks.sfgov.org/

There is a VAST array of items available to all.

A few years ago there was A Guide to San Francisco Recreation and Parks. The item is a map of the city that highlights parks. In the city, there are all manner of parks. Most are small and would provide a place to walk the dog. (We have a law on the books about cleaning up after the dog. So that will rarely be a problem.) Check the link above and if the item is available, have a copy sent or find out how to get a copy.

If you are a member of AAA, there are three items that are important.

    • The Explore series offers San Francisco Guide Map. The map contains maybe 80 items with a paragraph of detail and a small photo.
    • There is a quality street map of San Franciso. This will provide useful information about locations in the city.
    • The map San Francisco Bay Region. This map will provide most of the detail needed to gain general locations of all the wine country to the north, general information of the Silicon valley area to the south.
The three maps may be supplemented by any additional information needed.

    More to follow.

    Great web cam shot.

The bay has several bridges that were firsts when they were built. The suspension section of the bay bridge, shown in the web cam shot, was at the time of construction one of the longest and highest built. The center anchorage used multiples of the amount of wood steel and concrete usedd in the Empire State Building.

The bore through Yerba Buena Island was for many years, the largest diameter single bore tunnel in the world. And on and on.

To those visiting, welcome to our home.
